The Megas Toys That Never Were...

And speaking of toys, here' s a still from the fake Megas XLR action figure commercial (available on the Downtown DVD) we made for a Cartoon Network staff meeting. A friend crafted the figs and Jody made the Megas and Glorft mech. The Megas was based on a Gundam.

Coop had "Rock On" action, and Kiva was supposedly anatomically-correct. Not sure what Jamie did - if anything. Megas had lights and sounds, but I think it was all Gundam-type stuff. Each of the figures was given to the respective voice actors, and the Megas went to our exec at CN.

A number of crew made cameos - writers, artists and even our supervising producer, Chris P, who's creepy performance so disturbed the execs, we had to cut most of it out.

I have the Megas toy that was available at Cartoon Network (which had already obtained the collectable status) and I'd definitely get myself other Megas related toys.
Do you know those little articulated Transformers toys that appeared last year, right after they released the movie Transformers 747? Something similar I'd see for Megas. And I wouldn't mind getting a small compact (rubber or similar) Megas for attaching at my keyring either. The manufacturer could even fit a pair of LEDs instead of the Barracuda headlights and a button on Megas' back (if I think well, the button is already there) ;)
Oh well, a man can dream, isn't it? :(

I wanted some Megas XLR figures! Luckily i have the action figure from the CN site and the Statue.

btw what figures you guys use to make Coop, Jamie and Kiva? Especially Coop, that one rocks.

There was also a hand-held video game planned, but I think that project got sidelined.

While we were on the air, I remember walking into a Toys R Us around Christmas and hearing a mom asking the customer service staff if they had any Megas toys, so you guys weren't the only ones jonesing.

Can't remember exactly which figs we used, but I think there was a fat guy from Cubix that was the base for Coop, and Kiva might have been a Marvel chick...

The Megas toy commercial and other goodies are hidden among the episode menus. Good hunting!
